About KW Lightning


KW Lightning Girls Basketball Association is a non-profit organization that was formed in 1993 to develop basketball skills for girls in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. KW Lightning fields competitive rep travel teams or sponsors other rep teams or clubs for girls at all age levels. KW Lightning has created a skill development program for girls in grade 3 and under, and co-sponsors a non-competitive house league program. Starting in 2017, KW Lightning will be running programs FREE OF CHARGE for families with budget restrictions for child sports leagues.

 

History of KW Lightning

 

KW Lightning was founded mainly by Al Haehn with the primary goal of raising the level of play of girls’ basketball in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. You can learn more about the founding of KW Lightning by reading this article from the Waterloo Region Record.

The KW Lightning Executive

 

The KW Lightning executive is responsible for directing and managing the organization. All executive members are volunteers.
