YBL House League
The Youth Basketball League (YBL) is a non-profit volunteer association that has been offering youth basketball programs in the Kitchener-Waterloo area for over 25 years. KW Lightning has been co-sponsoring the YBL house league program since 1997.
The YBL house league is a one-hour weekly basketball program offered on Sunday afternoons at St. David Catholic Secondary School in Waterloo:
- Boys and Girls
Ages 5 & 6 (born in 2005 and 2006) play from 1:00-2:00 pm * NOW FULL
Ages 7 & 8 (born in 2003 and 2004) play from 2:00-3:00 pm * NOW FULL
Ages 6, 7 & 8 (born in 2003, 2004 and 2005) play from Noon – 1:00 pm * * NOW FULL
- Boys Only
Ages 9, 10 & 11 (born in 2000, 2001 and 2002) play from 3:00-4:00 pm - Girls Only
Ages 9, 10 & 11 (born in 2000, 2001 and 2002 play from 4:00-5:00 pm
Ages 12 & 13 (born in 1998 and 1999) play from 5:00-6:00 pm
The house league program runs from Thanksgiving to March Break. The fees are $60 for one player and $50 for each additional player in the same family.
No previous experience is required to participate. The emphasis is on fun and skills development. Every participant receives a t-shirt (mid to late November), a team photo and a medal.
House League Registration for 2011-2012
- complete the YBL Registration Form and mail it along with a cheque (payable to ‘YBL’) to the following address: YBL, 539 Glacier Street, Waterloo ON N2V 2K3
Here are the dates for the season:
- October 16, 23 and 30
- November 6, 13, 20 and 27
- December 4, 11 and 18 (December 25, Jan 1 and 8, 2012 – Christmas holidays – No YBL)
- January 15, 22 and 29
- February 5, 12 and 26 – regular YBL (February 19 – Family Day long weekend – No YBL)
- March 4 – Last day of YBL followed by presentations (medals and photos)
Participants should bring a water bottle each week and wear comfortable clothing and indoor running shoes.
YBL House League can not run without volunteer coaches. Please come forward on October 16 if you can help coach.
